Malaysia new Minimum Wages Order effective 1 May 2022
The new minimum wage of RM1,500 a month effective from 1st May 2022 was officially gazetted on 27th April 2022.
The Minimum Wages Order 2022 issued can be downloaded from the official Ministry of Human Resources’ Minimum Wages Portal website.
Monthly minimum wages rate shall not be less than RM1,500
Effective from 1st May 2022 onward for employee employed by:
1. Employer who employs five or more employees; and
2. Regardless of numbers of employees employed, the employer who carries out professional activity classified under MASCO (Malaysia Standard Classification of Occupations)
Effective from 1st January 2023 onward for employee employed by:
1. Employer who employs less than five employees
Employee who is not paid basic wages
Employee that is not paid basic wages but is paid based on piece rate, tonnage, task, trip or commission, the monthly wage rate payable to the employee with effect from 1st May 2022 or 1st January 2023 also shall not be less than RM1,500.
